First time going to Oregon, and I needed some dope people to shoot. I sent a message out to the interwebs and chad responds and tells me that him and his babe wife Rachel are going to be in the area THE SAME TIME. Note: this was like 2 days before the shoot.
FREAK YEAH. So I go shopping, find this 10$ dress (yes it was 10$) *happy dance* and we show up same time same place. The clouds came in CLUTCH and we frolicked in the freezing water and chased after seagulls… Ok but let’s just talk about those seagulls for a sec. THERE ARE SO MANY ON CANNON BEACH. They live on top of that haystack rock. Every once in a while, a wave of the creatures would lift off into the air and create a cloud of dark screeching that was just as terrifying as it was beautiful. I was moved by the majesty of this place & these two. #PERFECTION We spent an hour right before dusk hippy hopping around the rocks, laughing, getting splashed, trying to avoid mollusks & entertaining 50 onlookers, who got their fair share of photos of us haha
I can’t tell you guys how much shooting fills me with joy. It feels like my whole body is being filled with thick happiness, inexplicable purpose. I never thought photography would become such an outlet for me, but it HAS and I LOVE IT MORE THAN FOOD. Most of the time.
Anyway, this trip changed my life and I put Oregon at the top of the list of places I want to live. I didn’t realize that in a few months time, this place would become home to me, and that this exact beach would be only a hop skip and a jump from my room. Crazy how things work out, eh?
So Jordan splashed Chad right before this set of pictures. She laughed and started running- she knew what was coming. Without hesitation Chad leaps after her and onto her back and clings there, better than a baby monkey on it’s mama.
